Itinerary:The 7-Day Andaman Sea Yacht Itinerary
Day 1: Embarkation at Phuket Yacht Haven and sail to Phang Nga Bay.Morning or afternoon: Board your yacht at Phuket Yacht Haven Marina.Depart for the stunning Phang Nga Bay, which is about a 2 to 3 hour sail.Anchor near Koh Phanak to explore hongs, which are hidden sea caves and lagoons, by kayak or tender.Evening: Enjoy sunset cocktails with a view of the famous James Bond Island, also known as Khao Phing Kan.
Day 2: Phang Nga Bay to Koh Hong in Krabi.Morning: Weave through the mangrove channels of Phang Nga, spotting local wildlife like macaques and mudskippers.Afternoon: Sail south, approximately 15 nautical miles, to Koh Hong in Krabi. Enter the stunning enclosed Room lagoon, surrounded by sheer limestone cliffs.Evening: Anchor in the calm bay for swimming and stargazing.
Day 3: Koh Hong to Railay Beach.Morning: Enjoy a leisurely morning snorkeling in the clear waters of Koh Hong.Afternoon: Take a short sail of about 1 hour to Railay Beach. This world famous spot is only accessible by boat, featuring golden sands, towering cliffs, and jungle paths.Evening: Go ashore for dinner at a cliffside restaurant or relax on the beach.
Day 4: Railay to Phi Phi Don, specifically Tonsai Bay.Morning: Explore the nearby Koh Poda and Chicken Island, where you can sometimes walk between islands at low tide.Afternoon: Sail to the Phi Phi Islands, about 25 to 30 nautical miles. Dock or anchor at Tonsai Bay on Phi Phi Don.Evening: Experience the vibrant nightlife, visit local markets, or watch fire dancers on the beach.
Day 5: Phi Phi Leh, including Maya Bay and Loh Samah Bay.Morning: Cruise to the uninhabited Phi Phi Leh. Visit Maya Bay, made famous by the movie The Beach, and snorkel in the crystal clear waters of Loh Samah Bay.Afternoon: Explore Viking Cave and the emerald lagoons.Evening: Return to Phi Phi Don or anchor in a quiet cove off Phi Phi Leh for a serene night.
Day 6: Phi Phi to the Racha Islands.Morning: Sail west, about 20 nautical miles, towards the Racha Islands, also known as Koh Racha Yai. These islands are known for their powdery white sand and crystal clear waters, offering some of the best snorkeling and fishing near Phuket.Afternoon: Relax on the beach, swim, or dive in the clear waters.Evening: Enjoy a quiet, private anchorage away from the crowds.
Day 7: Racha Islands to Phuket Yacht Haven.Morning: Enjoy a final swim off the white sand beaches of Racha Yai. Begin the leisurely cruise back to Phuket, which takes about 3 to 4 hours.Afternoon: Stop at Koh Khai Nok for one last beachside lunch or a swim with the local tropical fish.Late afternoon: Dock at Phuket Yacht Haven for disembarkation.
Alternative itinerary: the northern route to the Similan Islands.The itinerary above focuses on the classic southern route through Phang Nga, Krabi, and Phi Phi. However, for diving enthusiasts, the Similan Islands are a world class option, though it requires longer sailing distances. Sailing time: The Similans are approximately 60 to 70 nautical miles northwest of Phuket. Visa requirements: Access is seasonal, typically closed from mid October to mid May for marine park restoration. Sample route: If you choose this route, your week would look like this. Day 1: Phuket to Similan Islands, requiring an overnight sail or a very long motor. Days 2 to 4: Explore the pristine islands of Koh Payang, Koh Miang, and Koh Tachai for world class diving and white sand beaches. Day 5: Sail to the Surin Islands near the Burmese border. Day 6: Begin the long sail back to Phuket, approximately 145 miles. Day 7: Arrive back at Phuket Yacht Haven.
